For 6th grade, I planned and implemented a Truck Career Fair and had 15 different trucks out front and back, so students could go around in small groups with teachers to hear from the drivers, about their career, company/business and were able to ask questions.
For 7th grade, I planned our first STEAM Career Fair, we had 24 Guest Speakers and students signed up to go to two different classrooms to hear two speakers in each room. They brought hands on activities or had demonstrations for students to try out or learn from.
For 8th grade, I taught a career lesson and helped students register for an account on CFNC.org, and explored careers, filled out a google survey to find out their top career interests. Then planned our 2nd annual Career Fair, the pandemic hit, so we are having a virtual Career Fair, check out my website for the link on Friday, June 5th or after.
At Apex Friendship Middle School, I also began our Speech & Debate Club with Ms. Williams, our IRT, and we had a volunteer from Toastmasters come in and work with our 15 students, even after the pandemic weekly on Google Meet! Our AFHS Speech & Debate Club students also met with us to teach about Debate skills.
At Apex Friendship High School, I continued being Adviser for our Chick fil A Leader Academy (students can be in this for 1 school year) we partnered with our CFLA in Apex, Beaver Creek store, and selected 30 new students this school year, after they applied, interviewed and were accepted. They participated in Service projects and met monthly for team building, and inspiring videos from CFLA. We have also continued to meet virtually on Google Meet and have done virtual service projects!
For 9th grade, I taught Major Clarity, a career lesson with an assessment to learn more about their personality, learning styles and explored careers on CFNC.
For 10th grade, I planned a Reality of Money event for Civics & Economics classes, had 36 volunteers all day, with a simulation Event sponsored by State Employees Credit Union. Students were given a real world scenario and had to walk around to each table to budget in their cost of living expenses, given the situation in life they were given on the card. This was a real eye opener for them!

I also planned our first annual College Fair for AFHS, and since the pandemic hit, I had to ask all 34 college reps, military, training program reps and break out session speakers to go virtual. I asked a team of CDC's from all over Wake County to help form a sub committee to follow up with all Reps to ask them to do a flipgrid video as if students were walking up to their table at a face to face College Fair, and many of them did!
